Resources for teaching in Kenya

Unread postby ritafowler » Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:47 pm

Hi,

I am the founder member of a charity working in a Mombasa slum http://www.mustardseedproject.co.uk. We currently have a school for 150 children (amongst other things) and are offering to teach English to many of our parents who missed out on education when they were young. Our teachers all speak English and teach it to our children but have no experience of teaching adults. Our adult learners will attend for one hour 2 or 3 times a week. I am a retired primary school teacher with experience of teaching French at school but only to children. I am looking for some good resources for teaching English beginners who are Swahili speakers. It would be good to have a simple textbook for our teachers with suggestions for lessons and resources.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you. Rita
