Tweeting during a conference session

Unread postby wordlefan » Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:12 pm

I recently read some controversy about tweeting while at a conference. I sometimes tweet interesting quotes from speakers while listening to an online feed (with credit to the speaker of course!). Many teachers who are at the live conference tweet while they are in the sessions. I enjoy attending conferences in this way and am always thankful for the tweechers who use conference hashtags. It had never crossed my mind that some speakers wouldn't appreciate this. What do you think? Is it rude to listen and tweet?

As an occasional conference speaker myself, I would have absolutely no problem at all with a participant tweeting during a session.

In fact, I could only assume that most speakers should feel the same, as it means they're effectively reaching a wider audience, no?
