Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know about the Ombrosa International Bilingual School scam.

There is a posting about it here: http://tesljobs.com/viewmessage.php?id_mb=368

To sum it up, the scammers offer a job to an ESL Teacher but before the teacher can secure the job they are requesting a western union transfer for 470 Euros Visa/Work Permit + 750 Euros House Deposit = 1220 Euros to be paid up front.

This post really surprised me because I worked for this school. They also have one in Voglans and I worked there as a primary school teacher for bilingual children in the 2007/2008 school year. They were great to work for and they certainly didn't ask me for any money! I'm going to give them a call and alert them to this scam because I really don't think they're behind it! I think they need to know that this is going on...

Hi LouLou,

Ombrosa is NOT behind this scam. The scammers have just used the school name/identity and have created a fake job position with their own contact details. This is a common way the scammers work. I have email the principal of the REAL school and have received this response back, which I posted on the TeslJobs.com message board for everyone else to see. Dear James,

Thank you for contacting us and for the useful information published on your website.

We feel concerned and horrified that such scam can be put in place and developed. We are terribly sorry for the applicants. As a school entity and as a person, we feel offended that our name and fame could be misused in such a way.

We will be happy to support any procedure against those people responsible for the scam.

You will find below the message sent to all teachers that have contacted us directly. Please, feel free to post it on your website.

Best regards,

Luc VEZIN
Principal.
Letter to the teachers
Dear all,

We have been contacted by several teachers about an advert for a job offer in January 2010 mentioning the principal’s name, Luc VEZIN. This advert has apparently been published on the Internet. There is no such position nor any financial deal involved.

Mistaken applicants explained they have received a contract offer. They were also asked to pay several hundred euros by Western Union for some different reasons (visa, accommodation …)

We clearly state we are not involved in any way in that procedure.

Application to our school should only be made through the official school website (http://www.ombrosa.com) contacts page for correspondence.

Thank you for contacting us directly.

Sincerely,
Luc Vezin
Principal
