I've been working in ESL/EFL since '95 and have worked in such diverse places as Korea and Saudi Arabia from language institutes to universities. However, I always felt a lack of security in these positions. For the last three years, I've been working at DLI in San Antonio, Texas. It's been great!! You want a career? You got it complete with federal retirement benefits. You don't want to work in the states? No, problem. Since I started working there, I've done six-month assignments in Slovakia, Japan and currently, Djibouti. When I decide to return to the US, I just slide right back behind my old desk.

Why am I writing this? Well, I know about some of the negative situations that are out there. I just want everyone to know that there are professional positions for EFL instructors. You just have to look for them.

How do I get a job with them?

They advertise periodically. Just go to their website and it will provide all the info you need to begin the application process. If you still have questions, just send me a pm.
