How do I get experience ?

Dear tefl team,

I am planning to take the tefl courses next year (I need to improve my english first !)

But I have a question, in most of the jobs descriptions it is asked to have at least 2 years of experience teaching abroad.

As a new tefl teacher, how do you get possibility to teach for the first time ?

Do you have any internship to suggest (that would be really helpful) ?
Schools that accept young teacher ?

It can be everywhere in the world !

Many thanks,

Bests regards,

Alice

There are no countries where you can't get a job with less than two years' experience - to start with the percentage of TEFLers who do more than two years is quite small! In terms of number of jobs for people with zero experience, China and Korea are probably the most common.

Soon after finishing my CELTA course I applied to volunteer at a refugee centre. That's where I got some practice, experience and references.

Volunteering is one of the best ways for beginners, but unfortunately, even for volunteering, in some places, they ask you to have experience/a certificate/to be a native speaker. I guess you should be persistent and keep looking.
