Contracts: Can You Negotiate?

Unread postby CDemers » Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:24 pm

HI all -

Can anyone let me know if they have had success negotiating a Teaching Contract?

I have one I am considering, from a language institute in Seoul, but there are a few sticking points for me I'd like to see if I can get changed.

I have a feeling it is not common as it is in the business world where I hail from - but would like your thoughts, as time is getting tight!

Thanks for any advice or suggestions... :)

It's quite rare because there is an oversupply of teachers. In Korea, you also have to take into account that not even keeping to the terms of the contract they offer you (paying late, expecting unpaid overtime, etc) in fairly common in hagwon.
