Guys, I'm new to the trade and have only just completed the CELTA. I really enjoyed the course and love teaching. I'd really like to make it a permanent career.
Unfortunately, I wanted to look for a job (in Syria) via British Council. They however have told me that I need at least 2 years experience (which I dont have).
Can you advise, the best place I can go to get some teaching experience in the evenings (as I work full-time). Like, maybe, sit in as a classroom assistant?
Better still....Can you advise the best route to take in order to develop my career in teaching English?
Please

WHERE CAN I GET EXPERIENCE?
I think the British Council probably told you 2 years' experience is necessary because that's one of their criterion.
That doesn't mean it's the same for all schools. You should find out about other schools in Syria before giving up.
If you want to get experience, you could always start by giving private lessons and then applying to schools after a few months.
Just an idea.
