Can I teach English abroad with a SPED degree?

Unread postby iteach » 30 Mar 2011, 16:52

Hello all.

My question is very simple. Is my degree good enough to teach abroad or will I have to acquire a TEFL certification? I know that if I obtained a TEFL cert it couldn't hurt, but is it necessary or will I be wasting my time?

I'm thinking about teaching in either China or Singapore.

Thank you.

Perhaps if we knew what a 'SPED' degree is we could give some advice.

I'm sorry.

SPED= special education or Teacher of the Handicapped. No teaching experience except the time I've spent as a teacher's aide. I did my junior practium and student teaching to complete my education degree.

Thank you.
