TEFL with NVQ Level 5

Hi, I am close to completing my NVQ Level 5 in Business Management and I am looking for a career break/change of career and like the idea of TEFL. I have been looking at doing a TEFL internship, firstly to get a TEFL qualification and secondly as a taster to see if I enjoy the experience.

When applying for internships there are one where you require a degree, whilst my qualification isn't a degree, it is a work based qual, it is a level 5 and I believe this equates roughly to a Degree. Will I be ok to apply for positions that require a degree or anyone with a similar qualification had any problems (or success for that matter) in getting a position.
