Looking for a job with a partner (help + suggestions needed)

Unread postby antonym » Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:35 pm

Hi, my girlfriend and i have recently qualified as teachers and are looking to get our first teaching placement. Does anybody have experience with this, such as, is it just as simple as applying for jobs at the same school and hoping for the best or including this information in a covering letter? Obviously if there were a number of schools within the same city this wouldn't be a problem.

Any suggestions would be helpful :)

Thanks

I would recommend that you apply to different schools. If you work together, a situation could arise where the school closed down and you're both out of work or, perhaps, the boss turns out to be a complete idiot and you want to move on but are both stuck looking for work elsewhere from scratch.

Go for two different schools and it's a bit safer in my opinion!

Good advice fromICAL Pete. The one thing I would say though is if you are working at different schools, you may well end up with totally different timetables -not great for a relationship.

Turkey I found good to work for someone in your situation - mind you that was a long time ago!
