Online Course

Unread post by Adi_B »

Hello everybody!
Im an American-Israeli 28 years old architect who's looking for a change in life.
I'm considering taking an online TEFL course, and I'm a bit confused..
There are several companies that offers such a course, and I narrow it down to 3:
1. ITTT - International TEFL and TESOL training
2. i-to-i
3. Bridge - language, education and travel
All the above offers more or less the same 120 hours online program..
I've contact all 3 to ask what is the difference between the online course and the in-class one - all of them assured me that both certificates are the same.
It's obvious they will say that.. but I'm not sure how realistic my chances are to find a job after getting the online diploma...
Does anyone here have an experience with that kind of course, or heard about those schools?
Thanks!
Adi

Hello,
I believe you need to go for a course that has sufficient teaching practice - face to face, with real students. And I'm not saying this because we run an on-site TEFL course, but because all my experience shouts at me that taking an online TEFL course is like learning to drive a car without the car itself. You can learn the theory, English grammar, lesson planning, but unless you face the students and try to teach them, you are not ready for your first class.
Good luck,
