Question with TEFL

Hi,
I was wondering what a good TEFL program is. I have been doing some research and it is a bit overwhelming trying to figure out which programs are reputable and which are not as much. I was looking into trying to find a program which would help me get into work in Japan. I have no real teaching background, and online seems to be an easy choice, since most of the on site other than Oxford Seminars, is in New York. I am really looking for a reputable program that will not only help me increase my knowledge on teaching English but also help me to get my foot in the door.
