TEFL volunteering

hi,

i am planning a tefl volunteering to thailand or mexico
but i have no idea how to choose the service provider.
i am from hk and there seems to me no ways that i can really contact them in person.
what should i do?

I have heard many horror stories about volunteering and recommend you check the provider thoroughly.
