Need CELTA for EU?

Unread post by Paisley777 »

Hello All,

I have been reading a lot and still have a couple questions.

I've been looking at pursuing this full time for a while now. I want to travel more, I've taught ESL for my local church, and have a BA. Now that I was recently laid off I am free to pursue this.

I'm from the USA but ultimately I want to work in Spain, Italy, or UK. I assume I will work in East Europe or China first though.

I was looking at these options:
ITTO TEFL in Guadalajara (http://www.teflcertificatecourses.com/tefl-mexico.php)
or
CELTA (http://www.ihrivieramaya.com/celta/tesol.html)

What would be recommended for my EU goal? I like the ITTO option given that it also includes some Spanish training and it is better financially. It seems like the CELTA is more marketable in the EU though. Would the ITTO TEFL be accepted?

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks,
Samantha

CELTA is much more marketable in Europe, with only Trinity coming close. However, without an EU passport you will still find it very difficult if not impossible
