I am thinking about doing an Advanced Certificate in TEFL (distance learning). The school offering the programe is accredited by The British Council but I am worried that as I won't have stepped foot inSIDE a classroom that this qualification will be completely worthless, Is that true?

I don't think you provide enough background / context for others to judge the worth of this course for you.
If you are interested in gaining real world classroom teaching experience, then yes, the course you describe here will be completely worthless.

There is a vast amount of discussion on online vs. face-to-face in this forum. Be guided by what you read, but bear in mind that from a recruiter's point of view, there is nothing better than a course that has provided practical teaching experience.
I offer any information or advice 'as is' and hope that it has been of help. I am not an admin of this board, and my postings do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the board management.____________________
