Dear Susan,

If you were me would you take up one of the positions referred to in the job advertisement I have included with this message or do you think I would be well advised to be skeptical about their requirement that successfull applicants pay 'a $500 non-refundable deposit to cover materials, housing, moderation and certificate fee'? The job advertisement is the following one;

Full-time ESL Job: Full Time 4-month placements in Thailand

Four month contract + Amazing TEFL International TESOL Cert Combo

60 Teachers Needed: Bangkok and other exciting towns, Thailand

After completing three weeks of training, you will be assigned a school by Innovative Solutions or MediaKids, our placement partners. These organizations have agreements with schools all over Thailand where you will teach students between the ages of 6 to 11 (primary school) or 12 to 18 (secondary school) years.
You will receive 30,000 baht per month (currently $852) + private housing for the four-month commitment as you finish the rest of your TESOL certificate at your leisure over the next four months.

Do you wish to attend with a friend or partner? Just let us know. Many schools need more than one teacher. We will place you at the same school or, at worse, in the same town.

At the completion of your TESOL you may remain at the school and receive a salary increase to 35,000 per month (currently $995) + housing or you are free to take your certificate and find employment elsewhere. With your TEFL International certificate you will be able to find work almost anywhere and our interlinking network of 20+ schools around the world provide lifetime job placement assistance.

Our partner schools are literally all over Thailand, from Bangkok and adjoining areas to the North, North East and South. These schools and their students welcome foreigners and a healthy relationship between students and teachers normally develops quickly.

Applicants must be friendly and native English speakers with a four year degree from a recognized university. Current university students on the verge of completion of the degree are also welcome to apply.

Accepted applicants will be asked to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit to cover materials, housing, moderation and certificate fee. All training and housing fees provided free of charge.
Selected candidates will be expected to join in April 2007 (course start dates will be staggered) and continue till 30th September 2007

If you are interested please email neil@teflintl.com with your resume, recent photograph and a small essay of about 250 words explaining why you would like to be position.

You may email neil@teflintl.com or see the link for the Special Thai Project” on our homepage (http://www.teflintl.com) for any more information'.

Yours,
Hubert.
