More TEFL online questions

Hi, I am currently teaching English in China and need to obtain a TEFL (or equivalent) certificate, and it will have to be an online course because of my location.

Have you heard of "The International TEFL Corporation"? Do you know if this is a reputable company? If not, how can I find out? I can ask them if they are externally validated (UCLES, etc), but how can I know if they answer truthfully?

I want to take a quality online course, but I am also constrained by my budget. This course, along with several others, costs about $300. I have also considered the 'i-to-i' course.

Are there any online schools that you know of that are designed with extra weight on teaching Chinese students? (sorry - that's a long-shot)

Thanks!

Hi,

The Institute of TEFL Teaching run a great on-line course that's validated. Visit http://www.inst.org/tefl-courses.

You could start by taking a look at TEFLWatch.org. This is a site where TESL/TEFL courses and course providers are independently reviewed and rated. Chek their TEFL Training Forum.

Yes, there are. ICAL is a long established course provider offering online quality training at affordable prices. Many of the teacher trainers on staff have experience teaching in China, and the ICAL TESL/TEFL Certificate is recognized by the Education and Manpower Bureau in Hong Kong.

Hope this helps
