Re: Hello everyone! Anamika here - am new and would like to connect for discussion

Hello and welcome.

Teachers of that age group will always need patience and good classroom management skills as well as the ability to facilitate learning and to make learning fun.

I'd use the real thing and create role play activities around them. Go on the bank's website and any site that advertises housing rentals.

Re: Planning a one-to-one 90m lesson

Hi, As it is not the first time the students have studied the grammar point, you should aim to have them using the language early in the lesson; have them using it in a speaking exercise; the practice part should be longer than the presentation/revision. The interviewers know that you are new and ar...

Re: Spanish contracts Holiday entitlement Advice please?

Don't worry about the reference. Don't ask this school to give you one. If you apply somewhere else and they ask for a reference, you can tell them the truth. A decent employer will understand. Use references from employment other than teaching, character references etc. I can't advise you on Spanis...

If you really want to teach, go for it. Just learn to live with the stress of doing things at the last minute. Or maybe you thrive on that.

You'll have a better chance of finding a job in the UK in the summer. You could start looking for a summer school job now. Not sure if your qualifications will be enough though.

Re: TEFL assignment.

I see what you mean. It's not an easy one.

I'd take some phrases from the listening, write them on the board with blanks. Ask students to fill in the blanks. Do some work around the passive and ask students to write a text about a similar subject or about the Jungle Book.

Re: TEFL assignment.

You'll get more targetted help if you tell us more about the listening lesson.

As Lucy said, if there are no examples of the passive in the listening text, can you make a link with the topic instead of the language?

Re: how do I find a job as a "non native" English speaker?

Hi, I know it sounds unfair. How about approaching schools directly, either by turning up in person or phoning them. That way, they get to know you before they ask if you're a native speaker. I once got a job with a school by going to a language conference and walking up to a stand to hand in my CV....
