Personal statement
I am a UK citizen currently travelling with my husband in Peru and am looking for a position teaching English in South America. I am TEFL qualified and have previously taught English in Thailand for a private language school.

My career to date has been in catering where I have worked in various management positions. The majority of employees within the company do not have English as a first language so I am used to overcoming the obstacles that this entails. It has also made me sensitive to and interested in different cultures. The most rewarding part of my job was in the training of new employees and my role in the development of their careers. It is this that lead to my choice of a new career in teaching.

Qualifications include: A-Level English, English literature & media studies; GCSE’s in English, Maths, Science & French.

2006-march 2013 General Manager Wagamama ltd
My most recent employment was as a General Manager working for a busy contemporary restaurant chain in London. My responsibilities included overall management of the restaurant, recruitment and training, setting and adhering to financial budgets and ensuring health and safety, food hygiene and employment law legislations were adhered to by all members of staff and management.
During my employment with Wagamama I have been responsible for the training of new managers coming in to the company in the training restaurant and the implementation of a new delivery system as well as the roll out of new menus and training programs.

Prior to this I worked in management roles in catering, hospitality and events.

Other Qualifications
Health and Safety level 2, First Aid appointed persons, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Training and Leadership courses. I have also been trained in conflict management. I hold a personal license to sell alcohol in the UK and a full, clean driving license.

- Experience in recruiting, training, managing and coaching people from different cultural backgrounds, many of whom do not have English as a first language.
- I am self-motivated and highly-organized in my work as well as my personal life. Working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and being involved in openings of new restaurants as well as recruitment drives has taught me the value of forward planning and working to tight deadlines, all of which requires excellent leadership skills.
- I understand the importance of working to brand guidelines as well as introducing and implementing new ideas.
- I am fun loving person who enjoys music, reading, cycling and socializing and am as happy on my own as I am when with friends. Over the years I have transferred many of my career skills to the life events of my friends and family in particular helping to organise exhibitions, weddings and parties.
