ESL Job: Part-time ESL Job Wanted: Europe and Asia

Posted By: Simon Clark
Date: 3 January 2014

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to you in regards to the vacant TEFL teaching position advertised. My CV is attached below for your consideration.

As you will see from my CV I have been teaching in a school called Princeton English which is located in Qinhuangdao north east China. Working for this school has given me considerable experience in teaching all age groups in a variety of different classes such as oral English and reading and writing classes. It is a job I feel is very rewarding and I really enjoy doing. I try to combine my passion for teaching with professionalism. I try to make the classes as fun as possible as I believe students learn more when they enjoy what they are doing and it makes them work harder to succeed. I like to play games with the students as a way to review in a fun environment, usually meaning they are learning the material without even realising.

I hope my application is successful. I would welcome the opportunity to teach at a company with such a good reputation for education and employment standards. Thank you for taking the time to read my application and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Work Experience

2013 – Present Princeton English

For the last year I have been working as an English teacher at a school in Qinhuangdao, north east China. The job involves different types of teaching to a differing age range. I teach from 3 years old to adult classes. The class size ranges from one to one, to sixty students. There are also different types of classes, I teach oral English classes alongside reading, writing, speaking and listening classes. I also teach demo classes which are were I go into different schools to teach four to eight classes to promote the school. I have also been involved in an English competition, in which I was a judge and helped to organise in making the questions for all of the rounds. The competition was for children aged 5 – 16 with each age group having different questions getting harder the older the children are. The competition was for the whole city and the winners would go to the next round to compete in Beijing to see who is the best in the province of Hebei.

2010 - 2013 Tesco
The job role I had at Tesco can alter in tasks. It ranges from pulling deliveries, tills, waste/reductions for items; shelve stacking, stock check, any necessary paperwork, dealing with customer problems and teamwork, including training up new recruits. I got this job for some work experience and for extra money whilst studying at University. I gained some independence as well as it giving me some extra money. I enjoyed working as part of a team and communicating with other staff members and customers.

Skills and Experience

When I lived in England I used to be a drum teacher, I did this for five years. The classes are on a one on one basis, consisting of all age groups but usually children. This is a self-employed business to make a little extra money. I have also assisted with coaching and training with my Sunday league football team where I was the captain.

 Interests

I regularly windsurf at a local club during spring/summer. I have been playing drums for the last 10 years, and have also been in various bands were I have played gigs to over 1500 people. I have spent time travelling around Europe on two occasions both with a group of five friends and on my own, to cover both east and western Europe which helped me build on and develop my existing skills and qualities, experiencing different cultures and how other people live. I have also travelled around parts of China and a little of America. Another hobby of mine is football where I played every week for a local team and was the captain before moving to China. I enjoy keeping fit by going to the gym four times a week and I like to go swimming once a week.
