Full-time ESL Job: Russia, Asia

Posted By: Lingua Foundation for the Arts and Humanities
Date: Mon, 5 May 2008

“Lingua Foundation for the Arts and Humanities” urgently seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Teacher of English as a Foreign Language to deliver language and communication skills to teenagers and adults. Marred couple is welcome. The contract is due to commence September, 1 2008.
“Lingua” http://lingua-surgut.ru is the largest international private language school in Surgut, Western Siberia. We have been successfully operating in the Russian educational market for 15 years. The working atmosphere is pleasant and friendly and Siberians have a justifiable pride in their hospitality towards foreigners. The students are motivated, keen, and respectful towards teachers and each other. Russian education places great stress on methodology and the Communicative Method is used throughout Lingua Centre’s many classes to great effect.
Siberia may sound a daunting prospect to many, but the warmth of the people more than compensates for the admittedly harsh climate; besides which the long winter affords a wonderful opportunity to learn to ski, or skate and to practice almost every possible kind of winter sport. Nightlife is varied and modern with clubs, discotheques, restaurants, cinemas, theatre and indoor sports facilities.
Surgut is an important regional and commercial centre. It is situated on the bank of the river Ob (the 3rd longest river in Asia) about 2000 km east of the Urals and 3000 km from Moscow surrounded by forest (the Siberian taiga) and it is possible to arrange trips into the wilderness and also to the native settlements there. Surgut is unlike any other Russian town, there is a burgeoning middle class with considerable disposable income. The shops are comparable with European standards and the choice is often better than that which is available in British stores. Clothes, shoes, leather goods, accessories and in particular furs are all readily available and very high standard.
Whilst we accept that Siberia is not always the first place on people's list of "places to visit", we urge you to give Lingua Centre a try. We can offer a provisional two month contract and if your work is satisfactory and you would like to experience a prolonged visit, your visa and contract can be extended to cover the full academic year.

Please find below our proposals and requirements:
The applicant should be Certified Teacher of English as a foreign language and have BA Degree
Working 40 hours per week which includes 30 hours of teaching English pre-intermediate – advanced students (teens and adults, corporations); 10 hours of office work including preparation for lessons as well as providing training and seminars to our teachers of English in cultural sensitivity.
We provide:
• Monthly salary 1000– 1500 USD (after taxation) depending on qualification and experience
• 100% reimbursement of travel expenses
• Visa invitation for entry working visa to Russia and refund of visa expenses
• Basic medical insurance
• Free accommodation in our guest flat with a kitchen and a bathroom shared
• Transfer from and to the airport in Surgut
• 10 days paid vacation and around 5 national holidays a year

If you are interested in this job if you want to immerse yourself in real Russian culture and experience, incredible Siberian hospitality and landscape join our international team.

Please do not hesitate asking any other information.

Yours sincerely,
Ms Olga Boyko
