Past Perfect and Past Continuous

Part One- Personalisation

 

Take a card from the top of the pack in the square below and try to make a true sentence about your partner’s week or weekend

 

Before- Try to find something that your partner did earlier than you, or an action that your partner did earlier than another action

 

After- Do the opposite of “Before” above

 

At the same time- Try to find a time when your actions and your partner’s actions were the same, or two actions that happened to your partner at the same time

Part two- Storytelling

 

Do the same thing, but telling a story about Bradley and Saskia with flashbacks, sudden occurrences, interruptions etc.
Teachers’ instructions

Photocopy and cut out the cards below so that there are between five and ten cards per student. Students place the pack of cards face down on the square on their “board”. The same game can be played with a dice instead of cards. For the first task play 1 and 2 for Before, 3 and 4 for At the same time and 5 and 6 for After, but for the second task assign more numbers to After to save the story going round in circles.
