Passives Disasters storytelling/ dominoes/ pellmanism

Teacher’s instructions- For dominoes, only cut down the middle of the page and then along each row. For pellmanism or storytelling, cut out each card individually- maybe with the verbs and nouns marked as such on the back. In all of the games, students match up verbs and nouns to make passive sentences describing disastrous things happening to them. In some cases, they might have to add something to make it disastrous, e.g. “I was pushed by another customer and fell onto the train tracks”. Before or after pellmanism or storytelling, you can get the students to work together to see if they can match up every card. This can also be combined with brainstorming collocations for some of the verbs, e.g. stung by…, maybe as a competition. This activity was designed to link in New Headway Pre-Intermediate Unit 11 Passives and the collocations on page 89.
