Emotican’t, emotiwon’t

You may have noticed that this blog is entirely emoticon free. Partly choice, partly old-fogey-beyond-my-years-ism. Couldn’t work out any of these either:

It now seems even age is no longer an excuse for not being able to understand, or so says the IHT:

Japanese emoticons are not quite as complex are those three, but just some are just as creative and just as confusing for an English speaker. What looks to be a full list can be found here
