A good day for tedium

Man, what a week! Don’t know why it always all comes together, but last week had some of the teenagers not answering a single question from an IELTS reading by the end of the time limit, a two man Business English class with mixed levels and only the higher level student doing the preparation work I had set the lower level one to help him catch up, etc. etc. Maybe they are just holding out for Xmas same as me. So, if you came here looking for inspiration, hope to see you again next week…

Luckily, though, it’s been a good weekend for using a little time mangement tip which I picked up while studying languages and which also comes in very useful when I am writing full time (as I will be again soon I hope if I have many more weeks like this- very reasonable rates, if any publishers or TEFL website editors are reading…). The trick is:

Save the tedious mindless bits of what you are doing for when your mind won’t let you do anything else. In language learning, that means writing out your kanji 50 times or going through your vocab list, leaving the new grammar point till the real English teabags appear in the post and your mind is fresh. In blog writing, that means sorting out what must be the messiest blog I have ever seen. At least that means there is lots of content, I guess…

Anyhow, have divided up the mini-reviews on the Reviews Page, which means I now lose the Guinness Book of TEFL Records listing for the longest TEFL blog page in history but should make it a little easier to navigate.

I have also divided up the Worksheets into categories, being:

Medical and Pharmaceutical Games and Worksheets

Business English and ESP Games and Worksheets

Telephoning Games and Worksheets

Technical English and Numbers Games and Worksheets

Art and English Games and Worksheets

IELTS Games and Worksheets

Travel English and Tourism Games and Worksheets

And lots more, I’m sure you are getting the general idea by now… All available on the Worksheets index page.
