Maybe we should riot too
…sometimes it’s the only way for us barely-working classes to get any attention. The French and Russian revolutions may have been tragic for many people in those countries, but they were a godsend for the bargaining power of us prols in other countries. Is it any coincidence that he collapse of Marxism has coincided with record breaking levels of inequality all over the world? I think not.
So, let’s take to the streets in Greece and wherever. I can see us now, marching down the street “working in twos or threes”, banners with impeccable grammar waving proudly, until we get all het up and start throwing board erasers through windows and burning Peter Watkin-Jones*
With that in mind, I have set up a Facebook group called The English Teachers are Revolting**, with the aim of organising groups of TEFLers to join all kinds of demos and sit-ins for all kinds of causes all over the world, until it reaches the point where we know enough about protesting to be able to stand up for ourselves
*Meaning his book, obviously, not his person
** I haven’t really, because I am crap at organizing making a cup of tea and thinking about my lessons at the same time let alone something like this, and you might have noticed the way I change ideas and interests every other day. I also detest Facebook. If anyone else does, though, I’ll join!

Talking of Facebook, the antiTEFLscam Facebook group I mentioned a few months ago really didn’t take off…
