An unusual way of preparing for your CELTA
Heartbreak:
“One teacher reported that she had been the least nervous of all the people on her course – attributing this to the fact she already knew what it felt like to be deeply hurt…”
The Experience of Language Teaching page 40
I can see her passing on that tip now- “So, a couple of months before your TEFL course, make sure you pick a real bastard to go out with and then introduce him to your slapper sister…”
Actually, the book does go onto the mention that she meant a tough academic course with lots of direct “feedback”, but I think it is funnier my way. Having said that, the book that it comes from is probably the most readable TEFL book ever, and I challenge anyone not to find it fascinating. Its author, Rose Senior, will be at KOTESOL this weekend, so don’t miss it (although I probably will, as its the last weekend before my first teaching day in my new job and I’ll be swotting up on Interactive Whiteboards instead) as my CUP contact says she is a “real character”- whatever that means…

Thanks for the tip Alex….after reading the review and your post, it does seem to be more interesting than the average TEFL shite that is spewed out every month.
You think it will be out on emule soon?
Just kidding….or not.

Thanks for your accidental tip- I’d never heard of eMule (I’m in the running for least technical blogger of all time)
