The new(ish) owner of MET and ETP magazines
is Pavilion (which is “promoting innovation in public services”, apparently), which is a part of OLM Group (who “deliver integrated solutions for adult and children’s services, health and the corporate IT market”). They are a private company, so not helping my vague plan to put together a portfolio of TEFL shares.
Can’t see how TEFL fits in with their business, but looks like Keyways Publishing (the previous owners of those two titles who were bought up by this lot) had lots more relevant titles too. Before that they were owned by Peter Collin of Peter Collin Publishing fame (?), who used the money he got from selling his specialist EFL dictionary company to one of the big(ish) boys to buy what were two unrelated TEFL magazines, plus a couple more. Think I might be missing another takeover in there as well, judging by the number of addresses my invoices have had to go to. And all that in ten years- welcome to big business, TEFL!
Doesn’t seem to have had a negative effect on the magazines yet, and might perhaps have given them the cash for the new ETP Digital Archive, but I’ll be watching them closely (picture OLM management shaking in their boots here).
