Request for advice- A mixed everything trial class!

“Hi Alex,

I came across your website and it has fantastic resources! I am, however, looking for something really simple and wondered what you would suggest. We are in Mexico City and work with teams from the US to do community transformation. We work with churches to identify needs and train them in meeting the needs of the community. This next week we have several projects going on and the church asked us to do a 1 1/2 hour english lesson. It will be only 4 days and the students range from children to adults. The primary focus is fun and to see if there is interest in future lessons geared toward getting a job using English. These are very poor and somewhat uneducated people. I have taught ESL, but always with a curriculum and as part of a longer class. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you,”

I’m pretty stumped on this one, which is why I asked their permission to post it here. The only thing I could think of is the Fun For All the Family series that I started doing for UsingEnglish (Google “Fun for all the family” “Alex Case”). Anyone else?

Here is an article they might be interested in from ESL Magazine:
    English for your Whole Family

Also “Survival English” may have some topics they could print out and share. There is some audio there, but if they don’t have computers…: http://edition.englishclub.com/category/survival/
