Four ways to get your worksheets on the Net in less than ten minutes

Apparently in a recent meeting of some fairly influential people in TEFL, the way I do it was mentioned as the future of TEFL materials distribution (I’m rephrasing* the report I got of it a bit), so I feel perfectly placed to tell the rest of you how to go about it. It you do wot I did, you can literally get your worksheets up for other people to enjoy and misuse in 5 to 10 mins. All you have to do is start a Wordpress blog and copy and paste your worksheet from Word or whatever into a blog “page” (if you want to organise them by category etc later and even create what is more a website than just a blog) or – very slightly easier- just a normal blog post. Choosing blog themes and blog names can take longer than I’ve said, but these can be changed any time later anyway (the URL can’t, but many people have URLs and blog names that don’t match anyway), so you really can go from no blog to worksheet on the Net in less than a quarter of an hour. Ditto with converting your worksheets to PDFs for easy printing: Let the punters cut and paste into Word from your blog page for a while like I did for a year or so- you’re offering them free after all- and certainly don’t let not having PDF versions stop you from the crucial first step of getting a worksheet or two up anywhichwayyoucan. If you need any help with any of those stages, please let me know.

Method number two will take you even less time and effort but puts you even more under my control (evil laugh), and it simply consists of sending the worksheets to me via the Contact Me link (top right on this page). Go on, you know you want to! The last (and indeed first) person to do so got a mention in the TEFL.net newsletter and loads of hits, with fame and fortune no doubt just around the corner.

The last two methods are considerably better known:

Scribd.com

ESLprintables.com

I’ll stop there, because you should have Internet Explorer and your worksheet open right now and right clicking on Copy rather than wasting time reading me waffling on. So, I won’t write another word. That’s it for this blog post. You won’t find me attention seeking and missing you lot when you’re off creating your own content rather than reading me. Not at all. So, I’ll stop right now and let you get on, because I can see you’re very busy. No no, don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine here on my own, you run along. I quite understand, the blogging world has moved on since my time, but I’m fine here with my pint of mild and 10 Silk Cuts, don’t mind me, you toddle along now…

* That’ll be “rephrasing” meaning “exaggerating”

If you want to get them on the internet even quicker then use drop io or posterous – this gets them on there in a matter of a minute or two!

    Thanks for the tips, Alex.

I’ve been working on a personal website (celebrating my 10 years in the TEFL/TESL field) and I’m hoping to get it working by mid December – early Jan.
I’m going to post them all on the website and your ideas are just perfect.

Thanks and keep up the great blog.

    Cheers
