Academic word list useful links

I’ll be using these in an IELTS lesson and thought they might be useful for others. These are given in approximate order of how useful they are likely to be for learners:

Here are my attempts (now mainly tried out in class)

Hadn’t realised that the top three links all went to the same address. Now given instructions on how to get to the most useful pages next to each link.

You have to pay for it and it would rely on you finding enough suitable reading texts online, but this looks useful for IELTS and English for Academic Purposes students too:

Thanks to the publishers for the PR release on this. Will hopefully be able to give more info on it soon, such as whether it is worth the money or not, if they agree to send out a review copy

Ben Zimmer here, executive producer of the Visual Thesaurus. Just to clarify, VocabGrabber is being offered as a free resource from the Visual Thesaurus. Many additional benefits come with a subscription to the Visual Thesaurus, but VocabGrabber can be used without a subscription. Let us know what you think!

I think you have a great name.

Do you mean what we think of the website?

Also for IELTS, apparently you can take a free practice test here:

Four pounds doesn’t seem too bad for more tests either, depending on how much feedback you get on why an answer is wrong.
