And the Certificate in Money for Nothing Teacher Training goes to…

… Trinity, surprisingly. Details from Guardian TEFL here

Including such motivational gems as:

“Once people sit down and look seriously at the time and cost that will be involved, that will focus their minds wonderfully,”

“we can’t say that it is going to help you up the employment ladder.” and

“We are not training people. If they want some form of tutoring they will have to find that themselves.”

And these are the statements from the spokesman from Trinity! (Needless to say the Guardian doesn’t add anything, as they don’t do TEFL journalism now that they’ve realised they can fill all that space with PR releases). It doesn’t say what they do actually do for you, but there are more details of what is needed from you: 12,000 words and 950 dollars plus an 130 dollar registration fee (that must be a pretty damn great registration process- do they give you an oil massage as you sign your forms??)

So congratulations Trinity, you have won a certificate of your own- the TEFLtastic Certificate in Money for Nothing Teacher Training

Love the picture with the article. does it have anything to do with teaching?

Didn’t even notice that. Made me laugh when I did! As the whole “article” was based on a PR release, the only thing the Guardian had to do was choose a picture, and…

Trinity has been busy! They have launched a Business English teaching cert as well:

I think it is theoretically a good idea, as the LCCI one never really took off, but I do have a suspicion of money-for-nothingness with this one here, specifically: the whole course is graded on one 3000 word essay (just copied from the LCCI?), meaning no observed lessons, easy marking for them, and very little chance of failing
