Using the Mother Tongue mini review
Often the best way of deciding a debate once and for all (such as the one on whether it is acceptable to use the mother tongue in the second language classroom) is by seeing what useful learning can come out of assuming it is true. I have not been very convinced by many of the arguments for using languages other than English in my classroom, but have still used some of the activities in this book very successfully. Aimed more at someone who shares a first language with their class, it is certainly interesting and thought provoking for anyone.
