English Panorama One mini review
I don’t think this book was ever marketed as a specific ‘Pre-Advanced’ level book, but it is in fact one of the few books on the market suitable for a general English course between Upper Intermediate and genuinely Advanced. The gimmick of this book is that the units are based around genres rather than topics (e.g. radio broadcasts, fairy tales), and that does mean the book provides a ‘break’ between more traditional topic and grammar based courses for students who are studying for a long time. The lack of a clear language point for some of the units, however, does mean that some students can leave the lesson not knowing exactly what they have learnt. For such students, using self-study grammar or vocab books in class and for homework, or using an adaptable FCE text such as Objective FCE might be the best option at this level.
