Grammar Games (Mario Rinvolucri) mini review

Grammar Games- Mario Rinvolucri
As in everything by Mario Rinvolucri, this book is firmly within the Humanistic Language Teaching philosophy, although that never stops him from including ideas he likes that don’t strictly fit into that category. Even the ideas that don’t involve revealing your deepest feelings are mostly a little quirky (for example, an EFL version of the board game Othello). This doesn’t mean that the games don’t work, but simply that it’s better to buy and use the book as a way of doing something different from usual and breaking out of the routine, rather than as a reference book to turn to for specific ideas. The lack of an index reinforces this point. Something a little different, which is sometimes what a grammar class needs!
