PET Masterclass mini review

Although the Student’s Book doesn’t have any specific exam practice exercises or sections until the later units, this book looks a lot more like FCE and CAE Masterclass than it does a General English textbook of Intermediate level- even down to little details like the vocab lists at the back. What this means is a lot of text on each page (and so an awful lot of language to cover), and short, exam-style, speaking tasks rather than communication games and longer speaking tasks. This means that although the reading and listening texts are interesting enough, I would not recommend this book for any class where the exam was not a major priority. It would be a good text for a class that was motivated to do well in the test, though.
