Until the ‘pre-FCE’ books came on the market, this book was the only choice for students who would have struggled with FCE-level tasks but could still scrape through the exam with a bit of encouragement and would perhaps be scared off by a higher level book. It’s still okay for that purpose, although it needs to be supplemented with at least one book of practice exams as all the ‘exam practice’ stuff in this series is tied closely to the language points in the book and so provides good practice of that but never gives a clear idea of a real exam task
