Infotech

You are on to a bit of a loser publishing a book claiming to teaching English for computers and technology. Although this book is already on a new edition, there is little chance of it not becoming out of date quickly (more in terms of not covering new terms than giving language which has disappeared, although the old edition was guilty of that as well). There is also the problem of possible students’ (and teachers’) vast disparity of knowledge of computers and technology. By trying to cover all these students, the book provides enough ‘beginners’ guide’ stuff so that any teacher can use it with any student, but expands each topic too much for most students. Editing of the material is necessary with all students, then, but at the very least the illustrations provide some material on which even a technophobe teacher could base a lesson. Probably still the best ‘crutch’ for such teachers.
