Business Matters mini review
LTP
Although this book is somewhat dated in terms of photos and topics (e.g. why the Japanese economy is more successful than the American one), it is still my favourite high-level business book. In fact, with genuinely advanced students there is no other option. The reason why it is useable with so many different levels (much of it is suitable for Int and above) is because of its focus on collocations and grammar in realistic functional sentences (e.g. conditionals are introduced with common negotiating phrases). Its weakness is that it doesn’t have any real listening work (although recordings of the readings are available), and that the readings are somewhat long to be done in class. Still, my preferred option is usually to choose this as a set text and to supplement from other newer texts rather than visa versa.
